Get to Know the Founder:
The Passionate Visionary Behind The Child's Compass

I'm Shelby McKenna and Montessori education has been my world since I was two years old. Growing up in a Montessori school, I knew I had a unique education than the traditional schools, which led me into becoming a Montessori Guide. I've learned so much in my time as a Guide about child development and how important it is to provide children with a strong and respectful foundation to build their lives on. I understand the incredible importance of Montessori's method and how it can greatly impact the development of a young mind. By focusing on a child's unique needs, we are able to foster growth and independence in a way that truly prepares them for a successful future. I invite you to learn more about how I can guide you through a Montessori Environment.

Experience

At The Child's Compass, I proudly bring a robust educational background, including a degree in Early Education from Texas A&M and a Master’s degree in Special Education from Southern Methodist University. Additionally, I possess an AMI Primary Diploma for ages 3 to 6 years awarded by the Montessori Institute of North Texas.

With extensive experience in teaching children aged 3 to 12, I am adept at addressing their distinct learning needs and guiding them toward achieving academic success.
