What is Montessori?

Montessori education is a unique approach to teaching developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in 1907, Rome, Italy. Dr. Montessori observed children have a natural desire to care for themselves and their environment, which led her to design an educational approach focusing on following the child's natural development tendencies. At The Child's Compass, we believe children are capable of amazing things when provided with the right environment and guidance. Our mission reflects Dr. Montessori's vision and strive to provide children with the tools they need to reach their full potential.

Why Montessori at Home?

Cognitive Development

It is important to see and guide your child's cognitive development by providing them with an environment that allows them to learn, think, and use their creativity. With Montessori materials and environment your child will gain their cognitive skills at or even above age level.

Motor Skill Development

Motor skill, both growth and fine, are important for a child's development. When a child has materials for their size, they are able to gain their motor development skills.

Developmentally Appropiate

For a child to grow and learn, their surroundings, material, and activities need to be age appreciate. What a 6 month old baby needs differs from what a 18 month old, 2 years old and even a 6 years old. With a Montessori environment, we are able to cater to every child's developmental needs.

Independence

Guiding your child to independence can start as early as 6 months old. With the right environment, materials, activities and guidance, you can have an independent child and relax a little more.

Self Growth

When a child is in a Montessori environment it allows for the child to gain a well balanced growth. Children will gain organizational skills, motor development, and a love for learning all around them.

Care Taker

Children observe their parents all of the time. They see what you do and want to do it with you. Allowing your child to help themselves, pets, others and their environment, creates a great sense of pride within themselves.
